Magical slimming pills, rigid diets, laxatives, painful and expensive aesthetic treatments including liposuction are some of the things women are willing to do in order to lose weight fast. With more pressure than ever, many of them have turned into extreme and dangerous ways to shed the pounds away. That’s why you should know the consequences and alternatives to this common concern.

  • Drugs: Any pill that promises you to lose weight has major side effects. In fact, many slimming pills have been taken off of the market because they have serious side effects. Even if you decide to take them, as soon as you discontinue the drug, it could lead to withdrawal symptoms and most likely regain the weight already lost.  
     
  • Laxatives: For many years, laxatives had been erroneously used as a weight loss treatment. Laxatives only eliminate water weight from your body and the weight is regained as soon as the person re-hydrates. The side effects are sometimes irreversible and can cause serious damage.
     
  • Lipo: Any plastic surgery may be very costly and without healthy eating and exercise, patients can easily regain all the fat they lost. Not to mention, the results are not always pleasing and many instances it’s necessary to perform additional surgery to improve your results.

    We often make excuses to justify our failures, but the true reason of why we don’t achieve our goals it’s because of “Fear.” The fear and uncertainty of not succeeding keeps us from reaching our weight lose resolutions or any goal at all.  Year after year we make empty promises and unrealistic goals to keep off the extra pounds once and for all.  Then, we want immediate results that only leads us to failure. 

    If your goal for this year is lose weight, these simple realistic tips that will help you follow the path of good health in 2010 and avoid common pitfalls.

    1. Be Realistic:
    Setting a realistic goal helps you to create permanent lifestyle changes. Rigid diets that promise instant weight loss may be harmful to your health. Make sure you set a manageable and a small goal; stick with it for few weeks then set the next goal. By doing this I was able to lose two pounds every two weeks.

    2. Visualize your Goal:
    Visualize yourself wearing those jeans that you love the most but don’t fit in. Think of the steps you need to do to achieve your goal. By keeping track in a journal, your desire of being slim won’t be only a dream but it will become a reality. 

    3. Hydrate your Body:
    Your body needs plenty of water to keep it hydrated and to flush out toxins. Try to drink a glass when you wake up and before you eat your meals so you feel fuller and don’t over eat.  If you hydrate your body, you’ll feel and look healthier.

    4. Avoid Temptation:
    Avoid going grocery shopping when your stomach its empty; otherwise you’ll end up with buying a bunch of junk food that only creates temptation. Try to prepare your breakfast and lunch the night before so you can have it ready for the next day when you go to work.  Willing to replace unhealthy behaviors with new healthier ones will help you avoid temptations.

    5. Stay Active:
    Sure we can all lose weight by dieting, but don’t you hate to completely avoid all the foods that are considered fattening? You don’t have to go hungry or completely avoid a piece of cake on party, if you exercise. Try to stay active by choosing an activity that you enjoy. Remember that you can only achieve your goal if your intention turns into action.

    Changing old habits may be difficult at first, but if you follow these simple and basic tips soon you’ll be enjoying your new body and a higher self-esteem.

    How to Become a Happier and Healthier You?

    Who doesn’t want to be beautiful?  “I do”, but when I say “beautiful” I am not referring to physical attractiveness, but  feeling beautiful from the inside.  I am sure that I am not the only woman who looks in the mirror and doesn’t like what she sees. In fact, studies show that only about 40 percent of average-weight women like their physical appearance when they look in the mirror. Yes, we can use some tricks to appear slimmer by reshaping the body with shapewear for an instant sculpted figure.  Amazing how body shapers can boost our confidence! But what about our health? We are often too busy keeping track with our priorities that we fall into the trap of letting our health slide. To save time, we eat the wrong foods. Unfortunately, over time, this bad habit creates an impact on our overall physical health.

    Where do we start?

    CALORIES!  Weight control is all about calorie counting. Calories are energy and if we don’t burn energy with exercise, we’ll gain weight. Similarly, if we don’t eat enough calories, our body prepares for starvation by storing anything we eat into fat. So, how do we find balance? Let me explain:

    1. Know your Body Fat Ratio:
      The first thing we need to know it’s the BMI (Body Mass Index), a measurement of the body fat based on your height and weight, which determines a person’s health risk. It is important to keep a normal BMI because if it’s too high, you will be more likely to develop numerous deadly diseases.

    2. Plan Ahead:
      Rushing and running late won’t give you enough time think about a healthy breakfast or lunch. If you don’t plan ahead you will have a hard time trying to lose weight. Remember that planning requires discipline. Being disciplined will help lose the pounds and keep them off. Before you realize it, planning your meals will become a habit and a new healthier lifestyle.   
    3. Never go Hungry:
      Ok, we are ready to start, but quantity and what type of food should we eat? My secret is to never go hungry. In order to keep my metabolism working and burning calories, I try to I eat smaller food portions (vegetables, fruit, protein and some carbohydrates) five times per day. Two of these meals are small snacks (baby carrots, almonds, egg white, or any seasonal fruit) because it prevents me from overeating.

    Keep in mind that every woman’s body is different. Some women tend to store more fat than others because they are naturally thinner or because they are more physically active. This means that, we either have to exercise more or eat fewer calories. Now, it’s time to learn how you can control your weight and reach your goal through calorie counting:

    Beautiful from Inside Out

    I want to welcome everybody to our blog about Shapewear and Body Shapers, which is dedicated to helping you achieve a better figure.  This blog will discuss all aspects of bettering you and your body and will not just be centered around body shapers.

    In this first post I will share with you something I have struggled with all my life, weight loss, and challenge you while I challenge myself.  I invite you to follow me through my weight loss journey that I’ve decided to call: “Beautiful from Inside Out”; and maybe both of us can better ourselves in the process.

    Since my 20s, I’ve struggle with my weight, trying every diet on the market that never seemed to work. Throughout the years, not only did I lose my self-esteem but my self-image as well.  The social pressure to always look slim and the association of beauty with thinness prevented me from seeing my inner beauty and my true self.

    Because most of the women I know including myself have battled with weight, my intention with this blog over the next few weeks is to encourage each other by sharing our struggles and our success, while losing weight in a healthy and fun way.

    But for those of you who don’t know me, I’ll tell you a little about myself.  I’ve never been obese but because I am short and a little overweight, my physical attractiveness has become overwhelming to me. I have to confess that the standard of beauty has become harder and harder to attain, constantly making me feel unhappy and insecure.  That’s why I chose to write about my experience and show by example, because I don’t want to let pass another year and continue to neglect my body. I want to radiate that beauty that each one of us have and take this personal challenge that could be your personal challenge as well.

    I’m not an expert in nutrition, but because I’ve tried so many different diets for so many years, I’ve  learned what’s healthy and what makes me feel like I am going to faint. I used to lose weight really fast, but later I will gain it all back just as fast, just like the yo-yo effect. For that reason, I started to do my own research based on my own experience that I know it’s going to help me to live a happier and healthier life style. I encourage you to join me in this exciting challenge and hopefully, we can motivate each other and reach our goal together.
